We just had a game where the second baseman would camp out in the baseline between first and second to receive the throw from the catcher basically blocking the basepath waiting for the throw. The baserunner would have to alter her path and run around the Fielder and was sometimes tagged out in the process. I am wondering if, as the first base coach, I yelled out obstruction as it was happening would that be offensive to the umpires.
As I write it, it sounds bush league, but it's very frustrating to watch

I would suggest not yelling things out at the umpire. If you think your runner was obstructed and got tagged out, call time, approach the umpire that made the call and ask some questions.

Did you see my runner alter her path because of the fielders position?

Did the fielder have possession of the ball when my runner altered her path?

If the umpire answers yes to first question and no to second question, then you ask, Is that not the definition of obstruction?
