Thanks Ken. A little long to study right now, but I will get to it tomorrow. I def. think OIL could have a point about consistency. So if the balls start going everywhere, i'll bag it. We have finally got to the point where we can practice with 2-3 balls instead of 20 so it should be pretty...
So is it worth the risk to try and change her? Is there a way to sneak it in so she doesn't really see a change except for her performance. I just don't want to start back at square one right before the season starts after 18 months of doing it one way.
If anyone has a thought on how to...
Again, sounds like there is way more to the story than we know. It really is hard to have an opinion when like another poster said, we don't know what she was told at try outs. As to the team being short on funds, how about the player being short on development? No one would put out that cash...
It is the Little League 2015 Softball Rule book. It is tough because I don't want her to not be able to pitch because other girls are and "appear" to throw harder. IDK....honestly she isn't going to play travel and high school is pretty iffy really. She likes to play, but the practices are so...
Just wish we could get the full story. My daughter, who is also play softball, plays volleyball for a club that is in in this particular association that is getting sued.
Problem is, is that we don't know the whole story. She was told she was the best at tryouts, here's the dough, oh now...
So we have always learned that both feet must start in contact with the mound. Last night at our practice, several of the other girls who wanted to pitch and a few that had some go right where they needed to we all stepping back off the mound. I thought this was illegal and asked another coach...
Ok. Thanks. Being that we are just spring rec. ball players, we don't really want to get buried in a ton of analysis and since she is making it some of the time, release is most likely it. She knows what happens when she releases early and late, so I would like her to be able to figure out...
To clarify, we transitioned a year ago to 40 feet and a 12" ball, so maybe she just isn't big/strong enough still. I will work with long toss and throwing at 43 feet I guess until she gets there. Namaste.
I wasn't sure how to name this accurately. We moved up from 35 to 40 feet last spring and did ok with it. Pitched in about 6 games and made the distance most of the time. We are just spring rec. ball players, so I try and take it easy on us.
She has grown about 3 inches, which has helped...
More importantly, how is your daughter?
I think you handled it well. Even if he didn't "mean" it, some people still need to be educated to what is unprofessional. And I think you are absolutely correct, if she put grounders into play and the infield couldn't get outs, well, then that is on...
Well my husband umps baseball and he is a very good. He played baseball for 18 years. He has been asked to ump All-stars and Travel and will most likely be head umpire next year for our league. Every call is a split second decision and those umps at tourneys don't have a dog in the fight(as...
"Don't worry about hitting the corners, just whip it in there".....10 minutes later......"Make sure you are hitting the corners."
This was the coach of the opposing team and I got an earful running the scoreboard. He said something to the kids and pitcher with every ball throw to his batters...
It is scary. My older DD plays on a rec BB league. I know for a fact one of the coaches has a record, but because of the charge(drug possession from years ago), knew he was most likely fine with kids. BUT....his being there told me that they are not doing background checks on anyone. I...
I wasn't directing it towards anyone and I hope I didn't upset you. MANY parents on here and on the field swear the same things. All I am saying is that if they truly are saying it--go for it, but if it is what you want to hear, just rethink. I pushed way to hard at one point and I finally...
My kid "seems" to like any sport with a ball and she "seems" really aggressive TO ME. But all she has ever actually said to me is "I love to play." I know one family that claims so much, but I have yet to hear their kid actually say many of the things they claim she says.
A lot of this...
I guess his heart is in the right place but I was just disheartened that he would think it was ok to speak directly to my child when he knows I practice with her and takes lessons. I would never correct his because I know how hard they work. Whether I feel his instruction is wrong or right--it...
I have stewed about this all weekend trying to let it go. But I guess I can't.
My DD said that another pitcher's parent pulled her aside and said "you know how to get the most power in pitching--a straight arm."
I posted on FB about how thrilled we were, with a pic, that we were finally...
I am putting together a research paper of sorts for our local league and would be happy for any input based on actual experience or online sources you can direct me to.
I am sure we have all faced this with recreational leagues in that you end up with 18 kids and you struggle with having one...
