As far as I can figure it is bunting for a base hit. As long as the batters feet do not touch the ground outside the batter’s box before/when making contact with the ball it is legal. A foot can be in the air outside the box.
IMO if a ball cannot be smashed down the line by the 3rd baseman she is playing too close to 3rd. I would rather have my 3rd basemen be close enough to 3rd to catch slightly hard hit balls down the line, I will give the batter their double if they smash one.
Good for your DD drifting a little...
I have read the ASA rules a few times and cannot find anything except the C must wear a mask. It doesn’t make a distinction between the game and warming up so I would assume it only applies to what happens on the field. So I would say the rule does not exist.
It doesn’t happen in the higher...
ASA just states the pitcher shall bring their hands together, it doesn’t say anything about a glove being on her hand. Yes, the ball can start in her hand. I find it hard to believe it would ever be an Issue but I have been surprised before. Good luck to her!
I do not know if you are wrong or right. :)
My DD hits baseballs with her CF6. She stays away from those really hard machine pitch balls otherwise she uses her bat. We bought the dang thing for her to use it.
It really depends on what your Team is doing and your goals. With a heavy weekend schedule 1 practice a week in not uncommon. It is expected that the players are practicing on their own outside of practice with lessons or what not.
It is 4.

(For Middle School, I know HS has a similar rule. (Probly the same for HS))
If your season is over, same as most Teams, you better start posting.
DD is still playing and even though she is going to complete her season with the current team I like to know what is out there.
If you were still playing I would go and watch one of your games but that doesn’t apply. I do...
That brings up one of the conspiracy theories. In the College playoffs they only seem to call illegal pitches when no one is on base. Theory being they do not want to affect the game by advancing the runners.
More conspiracy theories latter.
12YO DD is the same size as yours and swings a 32/22 CF6. The CF series run a little lite and since you staying in the same set of bats I would guess a 32/22.
Any chance she can swing someone’s 32/22 so you can see how she looks?
I have an umpire question:
We play with 1 ASA certified umpire, I am good with that and they know what they are doing. We do this to keep our costs down. What would you think about a non-certified umpire as the field umpire? Would this be more trouble to you then it is worth?
If that are racing a runner to a base for a force out, like the 3rd baseman running and stepping on 3rd, that is OK. Otherwise have them throw it to 1st; it is OK if sometimes the ball only gets ½ way there.
Ideally it is called before the fielder makes an attempt to catch the ball but I do not think there is a set time frame it needs to be called.
By the way if you had runners on 2nd and 3rd the rule does not apply and should not have been called.
The lack of quality and selection of softball gloves at the box stores is a common complaint. I think most posters, myself included, buy their gloves on the Internet. There are a couple posters here that will work with you and your DD to get her as good a quality glove as you want.
What I...
I dislike criers, they make me uncomfortable. DD has never cried on the softball field, on the ride home in the car she has though. Is it OK when I cry with her in the car?
For most players, not all, it settles down a little bit when they get older.
(I am going to jump in on one of the many hijacks of your OP :))
DD played player pitch with machine backup in 8U. HC stated the players’ batting averages were much better off the machine then when they hit off the pitcher. He was going to tell the batters to not swing unless he told them...
