    Live pitching inside cage???

I agree with those who don't like the screen...one compromise is have them practice bunts.

    The "Ten Commandments" of Softball

Maybe not, but 0-2 counts are on my list. How about "Thou shalt not hurl meat nor aim to maul others on a 0-2 count." I cannot stand big hits against my pitchers on a 0 and 2. Hitting the batter is almost as bad.

How many games/tournaments did your dd play in this year?

123 and counting. Little worried about college next year as it's much less and how will DD stay in "pitching shape."

    NCSA recruiting service?

I think there is value if she really wants to play college ball and isn't in a great geographic area or high profile team (CA, TX, FL). My daughter's recruiting coach with them did help her craft emails and guide through recruiting. Also its nice to have one place for all of the recruiting and I...

    1 and 1 count for a showcase?

Ok thanks everybody. I'll try to keep calm and softball on.

    1 and 1 count for a showcase?

For a local showcase the tournament director is making pool games start with a 1-1 count which he assures the players and college coaches like....the players I've talked to it hate it but anyone played in this format (except slow pitch of course)? My pitchers are not going to be happy with this...

Anyone watch the Little League Softball World Series

Was going to watch the Olympics then sure enough got sucked into watching softball. LLSoftball is pretty much a non-entity in Colorado so was wondering what your thoughts were. I was impressed how the Texas team got out of a bases loaded no outs jam. I didn't hear any talk about how these teams...

Gotta laugh...the money-making tactics of big tournaments...

That's a great point, if she's going to enjoy it, then it's worth it. Back to the Academic Game questions: Last year they had games at 3 times on 6-8 fields at Aurora Sports Park. They divided teams into graduating year although a few were lumped together (2016-2017 for example). Pitchers each...

Gotta laugh...the money-making tactics of big tournaments...

White water rafting! That being said the Christopher Complex during the Sparkler is pretty fun to take your kid to with all the vendors, and all-stars from the softball world. My daughter played in one of the Academic games last year and that still was just ok from a college coach perspective.

The most appropriate Friday Check in 4-29-16

"We are just chlliaxin in the OC this weekend. Marathon and doing a friendlies this weekend for us." Um a marathon doesn't sound very chillax to me. Good luck. More snow here in CO canceled one of the best tourneys of the year, a 3 pool plus double :( Looks like streaming some college games is...

    Questions before verballing/Div III/NESCAC

Hi, for those that have been through this before, my DD could use some help. She has a call scheduled with her fav school/coach this Friday who seems to be very interested and will likely invite for an overnight which would result in a verbal. This would be a significant expense and she'd miss...

Your favorite Friday check in 3/4/16

Hoping to catch some college softball tomorrow with DD then 3 games at the Air Force Academy including one against the Academy team on Sunday. Colorado weather has been amazing which means all our April tourneys will be snowed out I'm sure.

    1st inning issues

I used this all the way to 18s for pool play. If you've got some hot hitters it works great and it builds experience in pressure situations by forcing them to be visitors on Saturday. One other idea: Sugar. After a vigorous warm-up a lot of teams come to the bench and sit down for a few...

    Bracket Play Pitching Strategy

I have two thoughts on this: 1) My preferred situation is two #1s that are constantly battling to be top dog and a 3 who is either developing or is starter in another position. Then I go with whichever #1 that didn't pitch the last game. Of course that doesn't work for every team. 2) If you are...

Part Brag, Part Angst...first Varsity no-hitter? Not!

Ok mostly brag but I'm still fuming: So DD who has struggled with accuracy so far this h.s. season pitched a gem the other night. In the bottom of the 4th we score a bunch (including her 2nd 2 rbi double of the game) and are up 11-0. We give up an error on a bunt, and with 2 outs and 2...

    Participation awards

Dang Indiana...that's harsh. I was mad when the coach told parents at the beginning of the year that anyone on the varsity roster would get one if we made it to state. Lo and behold we did, no letter for my kid. Of course she only played 3 varsity games as a freshman so she didn't deserve it but...

Triple Crown Sparkler Jr. 12U All Star Game

Its a fun experience for the girls. We've usually had 2-3 players each year play so the rest of the team comes out to support. In my opinion, however, its mostly a money maker for TC. $125+ for 2 or 3 innings. My guess is your other DD will get invited as time goes on. Last year at 16s every...

    Avoid Softball.com

I don't often post negativity but out of respect for your sanity I would suggest avoiding softball.com Two weeks ago I ordered a LXT for a low price of $149 with no shipping. The saying is you get what you pay for but in this case its you don't get what you pay for. Hadn't gotten a shipping date...
