I read once that a peanut butter & jelly sandwich was a good choice between games. (You know - those games when you have 10 minutes before the next one and your DD is starving, but there is no time) Any opinions on that?
face masks
My 18U DD is a catcher. She wears all sorts of protection behind the plate and rightfully so. But she would be laughed off the field if she wore a mask to play 1st or 3rd. Doesn't make a lot of sense. The DD shrugs and says that her reflexes better be good enough by now to catch...
Can anyone give me an idea of a quality program (money IS a factor) to keep individual stats with? Even if someone has a method that doesn't include software (i.e. - a notebook and pen) and it works for them I would appreciate the help. Thanks
Sorry... are you suggesting I am acting like an a**hole?!? I never meant it to come off that way. Just trying to get some helpful advice to help my DD who happens to be a very humble, sweet mannered kid.
The DD just wants to test the competitive waters. She craves the competition. She doesn't want to always be the "big dog" with a lot of puppies. She wants to take the next step. Never suggested this was about scholarships. The unfortunate part of softball is that if you want the best...
She is 15. I guess I've never paid attention to how she makes the play... I guess she stays standing. She will be in a speed & agility camp soon since that is her weakness. (good bat, good arm) (not real slow, mostly not real agile)
When do you recommend to start going to camps. We have done several at our local colleges, but my daughter is just 15. Are we too early? We have also noticed that there are several different types of camps; should we focus on more advanced camps and residence camps or will the general camps...
I think respect is the key here. The coach doesn't show much of it to the assistant coaches and we are seeing the same tendencies with the players. It looks like the team may dissolve soon, a shame for those girls who might not get other opportunities on other teams.
P.S.I don't want to get...
I read somewhere about peanut butter & jelly being the best food in between games and so far it has worked well for our dd. Just enough to boost energy and stave off hunger but not so much as it slows her down. I was glad to see that I have been following Pops "plan" pretty much. It drives me...
I heard a parent yell to his young dd catcher "That's it princess, don't let them in your castle!" It's been many years now, but we still giggle at that one!
99% of the time we would never interfere. My dd has always been a "yes" kind of kid and has adjusted, but many have not and teams are now bunting on us at will because our team doesn't have the physicality to handle this play. I guess frustrations are just coming to a head and the girls will...
When does a daughter...
Thanks - I appreciate the discussion. Its going to be a LONG learning situation this season,:rolleyes:but at least now I see the value of letting it slide.
Fundraising
I often thought anything with a softball on it would sell well at a tournament or league concession stand. Too often you can't find things with a yellow softball on it. So your idea on mouse pads, etc. might work well. I know my daughter would love that stuff. You can probably...
Thanks for the input. Your insight about maybe it being a more advanced coverage might be right. We are used to the corners moving up for bunt coverage, but our coach is trying to have 2nd base cover instead of 1st. It is causing errors because the 2nd basemen just cant cover so much ground...
