Won the 3a state championship in our state last week! We went back to back after winning it last year as well... We finished the last two years with a combined record of 61-4. Id say that is not to bad!
Well as a HS coach, let me give my opinion... Our girls absolutely love playing for our program. We just finished winning back to back state championships in 2016-17, the girls are treated phenomenal. they got out of school to hang out in a hotel for several days, practice at other high schools...
I will be in attendance this weekend in Oxford! I cannot wait for this...
Fun fact about Lee. She drew interest from OM after blanking them in a fall ball game when she pitched for Mississippi Gulf Coast CC.
While we are at it, I am also not a fan of the opposing teams bringing buckets that are used as make shift drums to play the entire game. Artificial noise makers are not allowed in our state, but not all umpires enforce this...
Coached against her in HS ball when she played for New Hope... She was great... Her team mate, Holifield, ended up signing with Southern MS. A lot of talent on that New Hope Trojan team!
So my lead off slapper stole second last night. SS caught the ball in front of the bag and my runner slide wide towards OF, got hand on bag and was safe. Good base running and a great slide...
THEN a few plays later there is a break in the action. The ump in the field tells me "Hey coach, tell...
I'm not advocating the amount of practice time being spoken of, but at my school, we have an athletic block last period. We begin practice at 1:45 and are finished by 4 normally. Towards the end of the season, we are usually finished by 3:45. IMO at this point of the season, with playoffs about...
One thing we do for the noise, which can happen during our north state or state championship games, is pipe in loud music through our speakers.... Helps to provide some chaos and see how the girls, and I, respond.
Hand signals are fine with me as long as the runner knows what they mean and you have practiced, but my hand signals are ALWAYS mixed with my voice. Why leave anything to chance?
I'm not sure HIPPA rules would be in place for Patrick Murphy in this case, as they pertain mainly to healthcare providers... I'm sure UA and the coach are just respecting the privacy of the individual, but I dont think it has anything to do with HIPPA.
I understand that sentiment, but I do not buy it.... There is no reason a mask would impede the batter from seeing the ball IMO with the proper spacing between top bar and the bill of the helmet.
I'm a firm believer in players wearing face masks... I also do not understand why college players choose to eliminate the face mask from their batting helmets either, but that is just me...
Im a HS softball coach that personally feels that I do a pretty good job. One thing is a fact though, I have a great relationship with MOST kids and parents on the team, but there is one family (and kid) in every crowd.... I tolerate them and the snide comments that I often hear and others...
Very much a Crossfit regimen for my players at my school. I got into Crossfit at a local gym and we spent money in our program to outfit our facility with much of the same equipment. Everyone has their own opinions about it, but our results are more strength, speed, and competing with each...
