    Beautifully stated. OP - Just to be clear on the words, "expensive," and "cost lots" - think thousands annually. That's in addition to the thousands you'll spend on "elite" travel just as a fastpitch family. Average at the 12 and 14u levels for us were 12-14k (included pitching lessons, etc.)...
