Proud to say I know this young lady who is part of my daughter's club organization. She is an incredibly humble kid and a hard worker with an equally incredible backstory. She has a phenomenal future ahead of her. Congrats to Mia!
ShaPac - it's an unfortunate but a valuable lesson to learn in the long run re: who can be trusted to have your back when it counts. Social media is out of control. I asked DD to make her Instagram profile private since she was posting pictures of her teammates and the organization was easily...
What exactly was your daughter doing in the picture with a pixie stick? If she was "pretending" to snort drugs, it would be important to discuss with her about how things can easily be misconstrued in pictures / social media. There's a lesson here for all of our daughters. Even if you're...
Snotbubbles - I see you are also active on the Fastpitch Online forum here in the NJ area with the same screen name. I believe you identified what team your DD played for there at one point in time (I was amused by your screen name and it stuck with me). So you're being pretty transparent (or...
Potential and effort can be apples and oranges. The girl has a cannon and when she puts in effort, she can be an effective catcher. The pitcher catcher chemistry is so important, so when one doesn't feel that the other is trying their best, whether it means hitting spots or blocking balls, it...
I would consider sending my daughter who loves to follow your program but unfortunately her school, as I'm sure many of the other schools in our area (NJ) are still in session. It would be good if colleges would consider this so that out of state participants can attend.
To know Anthony was to love Anthony. He was a true class act who made every softball player feel special, whether they played for him or not. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who had a bad thing to say about him. He will be sorely missed.
In softball, I've learned nothing is out of the realm of possibility. I was talking to a lower tier D1 coach a few weeks back who told me that she was following an '05 pitcher. Even if the machine was set up at 43 feet, if the young lady is able to crush 60-65 mph balls at 10YO, then you've...
With no personal disrespect to your daughter, I find it hard to believe that she doesn't already have a full ride scholarship offer at 10YO if she is crushing a 60-65mph pitch from 35 feet.
Some more details - #1 and #2 are relatively effective pitchers. 2 currently has more wins than 1 but 1 has more starts. There is no 3 available (other sport commitment). You're playing a team one seed lower than you in the bracket.
DD (10 YO) is one of the faster pitchers in our area. I've noticed over the past few tourneys that she's getting less called strikes than the opposing pitcher who is throwing slower. I'm sitting from the side and normally would assume that the ball missed left or right but the PU in some games...
Love DD's coaches, love DD's teammates, love the teammates' parents. Not a single complaint. They are all really fantastic. Her head coach tells her like it is, doesn't harp on physical errors so much as mental errors, because physical errors are going to happen in 10U.
We are trying to...
I agree that it's a definite benefit to play stronger competition so that girls can get an idea of what it's like to play on the next level. I also don't know the reasons for why these team had girls "play down". I'm not criticizing it, I'm asking what the thought process is. As I stated...
In this case, it was like David vs Goliath. We went into the tourney not expecting to win against club teams (we're a town travel team). These two pitchers looked like they were on top of you when she finished her pitch from 35 feet. The game was over before it began, our team was so...
