DD pitched her first perfect game on saturday, 5 innings (shortened due to run rule), 9 S.o.'s, 0 hits, 0 walks, 15 batters faced. Unfortunately I was up at the cabin for fishing opener here in Minnesota so I missed it. I did catch my limit in Walleyes though.

Having the girl's bunt is very helpful in regaining confidence, however it could be they are simply afraid. You said that fear does not seem to be a factor but with a 10u player it is hard to tell that.I had a 10u player who got drilled as a 8u and after that point refused to swing when in the...
Composite bats are different from alloy bats they are made up of interwoven fibers of material and if you get a bad one they break. ALos the more use they get they get hotter adding distance to a good swing, however after a period of time they break down and become "dead" so to speak with little...
I was watching a college game the other day where a righty kind of slapped the ball to the right side, but it is not common. I would think the Batter would have a difficult time not crossing the plate as she is moving forward to slap from the right side.

I would talk to parents of kids in your association that are 12u and 14u maybe they would sell you their childs old one. At 10u I do not think it is necessary to spend the money on a new composite. Incidentally if she is hitting .500 with the bat she has ; why change?

Hi Mj’s Dad,
My Daughter went through a similar situation last year. After leading her school ball team in hitting (.437 avg. couple of home runs, etc.) and batting leadoff during tb she went through a slump. Part of the reason was the coach was a first year coach who returned home from college...
Today my dd was pitching for the Jv team and after a couple of unearned runs in the second inning cruised right through to the top of the seventh ahead 7-2. First girl up strikes out, second walks, third girl blisters a ball that hits my dd in the thigh. She jumped around for a bit and stepped...
She has to love the game!
She is going to miss alot of functions with her friends because of practice and games.
She has to be willing to put in the work!
Many of the wannabe pitchers fall out at this stage because of the extra 3-4 hours they must practice pitching.
She has to be drivin!
The...
MY favorite conversation with my daughter when she was age 12:
Me: How did you do with the bat today?
Her: I got three hits in three at bats!
Me: Awesome where did they go?
Her: All back to the pitcher!
Me: So you beat the throw to first all three times?
Her: NO, I got out all three times...
I jut bought the Rip-It defense for my dd and being the first mask she has ever worn she likes it well enough. NO problem seeing out of it, just cramping her style is all.
Hi Everyone,
When my daughter came from inner city rec-ball to suburban travel ball the first game she pitched, the opposing coach told us (her coach and I) that stepping backward with the stride foot and then coming forward was illegal. This took relatively little time to fix and very little...
Hi Andy,
Last year I coached a 10u “c” team and I broke down my lineup this way:
1) number one hitter
2) second best hitter
3) third best hitter
4) fourth best hitter
5) fifth best hitter
6) sixth best hitter
7) worst hitter
8) ninth best hitter
9) tenth best hitter
10) eleventh best...
Hi Inside Pitch,
How old is your daughter? I think age has an important factor in the equation. When my daughter was 13 and threw six straight balls to the backstop I would throw one over her head and let her chase it so she could see what it’s like and give her a chance to refocus (I know...
Hi Everyone,
My daughter experienced this as a first year 14u player. Since there was only enough players for one team my daughter was placed with the best players. I warned her before the season started that she likely would not see a lot of playing time and also would receive little time on...
Hi Catscratch,
I guess it would depend on the level of play you’re talking. A “c” level pitcher may at times throw more balls than strikes, but since she is “developing” the coach, the team, and the parents endure through it. An “a” level pitcher would have far less. My daughter as a 16u...
Hi traveling man,
I agree that there is nothing better than long toss to increase speed. I would also say innings on the mound as well. I know with my daughter as she increased speed the ball would rise in the zone or way out to be more distinct. So she would slow her delivery down to throw...
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for the kind words Amy and Amanda. Lozza there is yearly expenses with equipment but with research many of them can be avoided. As far is the bat is concerned it is important that the player feels confident with it. Coming from baseball I was confident that my daughter...
Hi Everyone,
This is a great topic and I would like to take it from a different angle. My wife and I were married coming up on six years ago. She had two daughter’s one age10 and the other age 4 and I became their stepfather. After watching Brittany the older one play a year of baseball I...
