Nfhs rules. Need clarification on the following:
1) Pop fly to the infield. Does plate or base umpire have responsibility for call? Who would coach go to to ask question about catch?

2) Line drive caught by an infielder. Does plate or base umpire have responsibility for call? Who would coach approach if there is a question about trapped ball?

Mechanics wise, PU has responsibility for both of those calls.

A coach with a question about a call should request time and, if granted, approach the umpire that made the call (PU in this case). A simple, “Blue, I believe that was trapped and your partner may have had a better view of that. Can you check with them?” should suffice there.

Why is there a question on a pop fly in the infield?

“Blue, in my reality she didn’t catch that at the pitcher’s circle and it was a home run. It was just your judgment that it was a fly ball to the pitcher, and I don’t like your judgment. I want — no, I DEMAND an appeal.”

OK, I failed to wait for the details this time.
