Two years a go I was given an Excel sheet of Florida non-D1 Softball teams and their head coaches plus emails... there were 46 of them.

Today I updated the list.

Good:
- I added 6 programs I know were not on the list. And I know I am missing some
- 30 of the coaches are still at the same program

The bad:
16 coaches have left. That is a 35% turnover rate in less than 2 years. 4 left for better jobs, 2 retired (or were made to retire) and the rest were fired.

I am sure those stats are true around the country. Just like us in the working world, we are looking for the next thing in our careers. It's very difficult for players that have been emailing these coaches for 2 years during the recruiting process, and all of sudden you have to start over with a new coach. For those kids that early verbal at 8th or 9th grade do not know the struggle because they probably never did any emailing at all. Typically these are players that TB coaches are parading around the country to the P5 schools.

As I have seen in other threads, if you early verballed, you are banking on that coach being in that position for the next 8 to 9 years. The likelihood of that happening is pretty low.

And I'll reiterate from another thread. Riseball's suggestion of making recruiting possible to the HS Freshman level but all commitments must be a LOI and be binding for the entire 4 years plus tuition increases with no verbals allowed would alleviate this problem on a Macro level that would be unprecedented after the first few years it was put into effect. HC's leave; too bad, the following coaches are stuck with their recruits and if the HC's want to leave but the college wants to keep their recruits, then they better cough up some money to keep them. By the same token, if the college wants to dump the coach, then they better be willing to give up those recruits that may not want to continue to go to that college.
