I have an original Rev Fire that is still like new (2-12" balls are used, but work fine), both DD's are getting to a point where I don't need it anymore. Are people still using it?
Picking one, my choice would be speed. Though I agree pitchers can be effective with spin and location without speed.
With speed, control and spin can be can be off a little and you will still get swings and misses/foul balls/weakly hit balls. The difference is, with a hard throwing pitcher...
DD#1 seems to be adjusting well. Playing P5, the grind is real. But seems to be embracing it. Played in 3 games last weekend, played 1st, hit, and pitched 3 scoreless innings. Not sure if those innings will come around in the spring. The hardest thing for her right now is balancing the...
DD is a 2nd year 14, numbers I got from the version 2 aren't all that different from my version 1 Rev Fire.
Took the average of 5 pitches
Fastball

20.6 rps-----high was 21.8
Backhand Change
40.5 mph-----high was 42
23.9 rps-----high was 24.7
Horseshoe Change

I'm seeing that right now with the younger DD...two different riseballs (you know the coach)...fastball speed has leveled for a while at about 61, but the riseballs have gotten VERY good. Even alternating pitches can be a wild ride at times. It will be fun to see after this year.
DD was lucky enough to commit to a P5 conference back in October. Couldn't be more excited as it was where she wanted to go to school even if softball wasn't involved.
Now moving on to my DD that's a 2022...start the process all over again. This one might be easier with a 60mph fastball and...
MY DD is 12u eligible as well. We did both OnDeck last year and made the USSSA Elite Selects as a direct select. She is a P/C/Corner. We will never do the USSSA selects again. Just not a great experience for the cost. Personally, as long as you have means to correctly and accurately do...
Youngest DD tried out in KS back in October. Ended up being a direct select for the Midwest region for the 11's. It was a well run tryout, albeit indoors due to rain. DD can't wait to go to FL in August...I'm sending mom with :)
I wouldn't use them in a gym, but we have pitched with real balls in a gym...just be aware of your backstop
Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone noticed a difference of when your DD pitched in gyms/domes all off season and it takes a little time to adjust to being outside in the dirt? How...
