I was curious about how others might view this situation. 40 posts later, my curiosity is satisfied. I agree with you. My daughter will be fine regardless.
The parents are just as you would expect them to be... And letting one's daughter quit in such a situation tells you everything you need to know about them.
Parent of the freshman pitcher. JV plays at a pretty high level here, so it's ok if she plays JV and gets more circle time... As opposed to warming the bench on varsity.
Early indications from winter workouts seem to suggest that the attitude hasn't changed.
I guess I'm wondering if the coach will be sending a message to the rest of the team (and the parents) if this girl is allowed to quit JV (in response to an adult coaching her on her attitude) without...
A pitcher plays JV as an 8th grader (in our district, it's allowed). As a freshman, she doesn't make varsity and plays JV again. Gets about half the circle time through the first three games. Massive attitude problem, thinks she should have made varsity, very unhappy and lets everybody know...
For what it's worth, here's an advertisement for a "no masks allowed" clinic that was held in our area last fall:
Georgetown University Asst Coach Erica Ayers leading Throwing/Fielding Clinics
Throwing and Fielding Clinics will take place at the Pure Performance facility on Tuesdays from 6-7pm...
These rules seem totally reasonable to me. What I can't understand is why USSSA would allow the rules to vary from state to state. How does that help USSSA as a brand?
We lost our second pool game 6-1 to the eventual tournament winner. Their pitcher had a WHIP of 0.8. I'm pretty sure this was their #1.
The ringer for Trophy Hunters had a WHIP of 0.57.
I'm not the coach, I'm just the dad doing Gamechanger, so my responsibilities are minimal...and it's pretty easy to take 5 minutes at some point in the 1-2 days before pool play to type the rosters of the scheduled opponents from the USSSA site into the Gamerchanger site. Earlier this season...
Are you suggesting that perhaps we should have brought our own ringers to the tournament to enhance the possibility of getting more game time? Let's see...bring in a ringer...sit a girl whose has been practicing with the team and has paid to play on that team...the ringer's skills...
From a softball perspective, we had 3 good games this weekend....but it should have been more. We have girls on our team that could use the extra playing time. Had the other team not played a ringer, we would have gotten deeper into Sunday and the team would have gotten more experience and...
In pool play we beat the Trophy Hunters 9-4 using our #2 and #3 pitchers. In the first bracket game, we went with the same two pitchers and they won 5-3. Jane Doe pitched a full 7 innings. It was a good game, but the difference was clearly the ringer, pitching and batting lead off. The...
Our team is a mix of 12U and 13U girls with varying skill levels. We play a mix of 14U B and C tournaments. When we play B, we usually end up in the silver bracket. When we play C, we do so with the idea that we can spread out the playing time a little more while still remaining competitive...
