Did the umpire make the right call?

I'm curious as to how it was called regarding dropped third strike. If the ball bounced before the catcher it should be a dropped third strike and the batter is free to try an obtain first base. Did the umpire immediately call the batter out or just call strike three and wait? lelwell

    Bunt Coverage Options

With a runner on 1b and 2nd I keep F5 back to cover base and cover the bunt with F1, F2, F3. F4 covers 1b and F6 covers 2B, outfielders back up throws. I've seen too many fake bunts to pull F5 up and then steal from 2B. It's very hard for F6 to beat the runner to the bag, recieve a ball, and...

    Faking run from3rd to home

Almost We often have the runner at third get a lead to help the bunter get to first. If catcher throws to first runner completes break home to try and score. If catcher throws to third runner dives back in and bunter is safe. However, the runner at third doesn't yell anything. lelwell

    Open vs Closed Pitching Style

Olympic Study The Olympic study was done at the 1996 games. If you look at the whole report and read through it, it looks like open is a right handed pitcher hips parallel to the power line belly button towards third base. So closed is perpendiculiar to the power line or parallel with the...

    Open vs Closed Pitching Style

Olympic Study These snippets are from the 1996 Olympic Study. Both suggest an approach more closed than open for safety. Softball Pitching at the 1996 Olympic Games At ball release, the position of the throwing arm is again important for reducing stress on the throwing arm. The elbow should...

    Entry Speed

I've noticed that while everyone will always tell you that location and movement are the most important skills for a pitcher there does seem to be a minimum entry speed for certain levels. For example DI seems to have an entry speed of 60mph. If you can't consistently break 60 you are probably...
