12u.....do you like the fake throw down from the catcher to 2nd / SS on a steal from 1 with a girl on 3rd???.....by fake i mean go to the SS.....9/10 times soon as the catcher releases the ball on that throw down the average 3rd base coach will send that runner....but instead of going 2nd go to...
my basic question......runner on 2nd....no outs.....ground ball pop hit up to the left of the pitcher.....3rds gets ball........where does she make the play......just wanted diff opinions....
that may be the case with your teams......but with my team experience(up until the pitcher I have now) is been that pitch hesitates or cant get there in time for when the catcher gets the ball and turns to make the toss.....the runner has been beating pitch the the plate......again this has been...
and as far as my 1st base staying on 1st on a bunt.....is only because I have that rare stud natural athlete for a pitcher....very fast and very quick......99% of pass balls are outs for us because she covers so quick
so what your saying is go for the out at 1st....take the out.....then go straight from first to home......so when the runner on 2nd makes it to 3rd, she wont even try home......right?
true....and I get that....would you rather have two on to get the easy at 3rd (if its a ground ball) and possibly get a double at 2nd..... or have a have a batter come up with a runner on 3rd and 1 out.....who you know is going to try to get home at first chance.....the way I was asking about...
rocketech1....I wasn't talking about a runner on 1st and 2nd....I was talking about a runner on 2nd only....I was saying that if I could hold 2nd and give the batter 1st....then with runners on 1st and second I could have a better chance at a double.....because both girls would leave there base...
I have my pitcher and catcher and 3rd covering the bunt......I leave my 1st baseman at first.....works great to.....shes there waiting on the throw......if I have girl on 2nd the I let short grab 3rd if 3rd has to field bunt.....I never bring 1st in on bunt
agree.....score plays a big part in that call......just trying to teach decision making when you have the ball.....wrong decisions add up at the end of the game
to me....if you go for the out at first and the girl on 2nd leaves for 3rd....then if 1st don't make a good throw...or a over throw...then she gets 3rd for free.....now....if you hold her and give up 1st then you have 2 girls on.....so......your next play will be forced at 3rd.....because...
12u.....girl on 2nd with no outs......next batter hits a small short pop to left of the pitcher......3rd makes the play on the ball......do you hold the girl on second and give up first.....or do you fire to 1st and hope she gets it back to 3rd for a double play.......
