Tend to pull their head before the ball hits the bat. They do need to watch the ball make contact with the bat, they don't need to watch where it goes.
Not necessarily "fun" but kettle weights with squats, plyo boxes and push ups. For hitting, some different drills that may help is doing zone hitting T work (inside and outside pitches - 1,4,7 and 3,6,9 below) and hitting small balls...I have a wooden small bat. Some of the fun drills may...
I prefer they drop step as it is always easier to come forward if short than go back if it is long. Better to have to come up on the ball if you misjudged rather than having to go back on it. Plus if you do have to come in on it after drop stepping you gain that forward momentum after you...
I like to use a 1-9 zone approach. For a right handed batter, 1 is low inside, 2 is low middle, 3 is low outside, 4 is middle inside, 5 is right down the middle, 6 is middle outside, 7 is high inside, 8 is high middle and 9 is high outside. I like to use T work the most to develop muscle...
My apologies....new to doing replies on the forum. Thanks Eric F. for seeing my shortcoming and doing some "coaching" - much appreciated! These were all in response to the following post, so guessing that person may not see my replies. As I tell my teams..."It's not about the mistake, it's...
I like the front foot at 45 degrees...but not a must...I do a drill with my players to stand with both feet point toward the plate and try to rotate hips. Then plant the foot closest to pitcher at 45 degrees and rotate. You can tell a big difference in the ability to rotate the hips with 45...
Offhand, first couple of things that stick out are the front leg bent and head not on the ball. Wrists rolling versus swinging through the ball. At point of contact, player should be in this position as shown in several other posts (look at waist down and waist up). If arms are in this...
My suggestion is to just work on drop stepping. This can be easily done with her about 10 feet in front of you, facing you. Yell "Hit" and then have her drop step left or right. To drop step left, she just steps with her left foot backwards toward the fence causing her entire body to turn...
Good start!
I think she is going to be a great hitter! There are a few things I noticed...
Hips/Hands - she is leading with her hips but isn't quickly following with her hands so she isn't capitalizing on the hips/hands whipping power.
Her contact point is too far out from the plate. Her...
