I have seen umps in my area have a problem with both touching the ground or licking fingers and then going directly to the ball. From what I understand if you go to the ground or to your mouth you have to wipe your fingers off on your uniform before touching the ball.
My 12U DD is having an issue getting her stride foot all the way down before her release, causing the ball to go high. How is this fixed?
Currently we are just telling her to drive her foot down. She does not have an overly high stride, it just seems her timing is just off a little bit...
Thanks for the feedback. There have been some great suggestions and valid points.
I realize that I have overlooked the effects of adolescence and how it pertains to females...BIG time. Believe me when I say, I am struggling to learn the differences between teaching boys and teaching girls. I...
sluggers,
No need to be disrespectful, your rude answer shocked me. I am disapointed that a site administrator would respond as you did. I am not some fanatical sports dad as you assume, I'm just trying to help a kid I love. As a matter of fact, my DD has asked for my help with this and really...
I have a girl who is moving up to 12U next year and she's good player, very trainable, all the physical abilities and an all around good kid. While I know she is still very young she has devolved an issue with self-confidence and mental toughness.
Performance problems seem to come up randomly...
Dumb question, but I need to know what a brag bunt is, exactly? In what situations is it used and how do I teach it?
My DD (12U in 2010) is a right batter who normally bunts well, but I am looking to teach her and myself some more options. Thanks
Last year I gave my 10U DD no break. Infact, we ramped up into try-outs in September and buy November she was seeing a doctor for arm pain and then a PT guy until March to get rid of that pain...she had a growth plate, overuse injury. She lost months of team and pitching practice and couldn't...
Who said don't chant? My DD's team chants until I can hear it in my sleep. This post is about how wrong it is to disrespect a player.
The "we" I refer to is the team, the club, and my family.
Our club dosen't chant against other teams or players at any age. We feel it is tacky, unsportsman like and really shows lack of class. Infact, I don't even think it gets mentioned much except mabey at the 10U level with new players who are fresh from rec. ball.
