My observation would be that she gets too closed/facing the catcher at her release causing her to push the ball more than she should. I think she can gain whip and find her release point if she works on maintaining that 45 -52 degree angle at release at bit better. JMHO
For me it was a timely bump. I am starting to work with a group of 10U players and the post of Java's on page 1 regarding the ability of girls in the 8-11 age group having the core strength to stabilize the torque that results from Rick's drill is very insightful. Helps with the progression of...
I think this is the pitcher in the video throwing very slow but I could be wrong. Amber Waracka AT UHH 2012 Selected PacWest Pitcher of the Week (Mar. 12) ... 2011 Selected first-team all-PacWest flex player ... selected second-team all-PacWest and Daktronics all-West Region pitcher ... was...
I thought the announcers said the Baylor pitcher was taught by her pitching coach to show the bottom of her foot to her catcher. If she was taught that I would have to assume she was taught the lag with the throwing hand. I would view it as a way to create overlap.
Her mechanics look really good, she checks off all the boxes as she goes through the motion. Well done. If this was a test and I had to find something to suggest, it would be to get the right heel up a bit sooner in her back swing so the drive would start a little sooner. I try to have my...
Certainly it is a free choice and I'd like to see it stay that way. No one thinks twice about a player wearing a mask now like when my DD played ten years ago. A change for the better.
If you think her release isn't late because she releases the ball around the 6 o'clock position you are right however if you accept the truth that she needs to release with a brush against her side and isolate the upper arm against her side for that split second that creates whip and speed then...
Java, I missed the under or over the thumb rise ball explanation, can you reference a previous thread or expound further? Which does Sarah P throw with her slicing motion. Thx, Go4
IMHO the issue is she is completely open at 9 o'clock, she should had made the transition to her throwing angles by then and stabilized her hip to receive her arm onto her side for the whip at release. What are throwing angles? For me I have my student stand completely open and do arm circles...
Ken, IMO the process of the turn out at the top of the circle is the sequence of pronation of the forearm at the top of the circle then supination at 9 o'clock then pronation at release. I have had pitchers either turn the ball out at the top or show the ball to the catcher during the entire...
Ken, Thanks for posting the video. Do you believe that Haeger's screwball breaks? I do and if you do, what spin is on the pitch and why does it break? My opinion is that the spin is the same as Rick Pauly's corkscrew curve which I would think is the same as Boardmember's curve. The...
