    Favorite older bats?

My DD loved her 05 Anderson Rocket Tech back in the day.

The Official Fastpitch Foundations Thread ;)

Amazing the principals have been working on this for five years and are still hoping to get it online shortly. I am prepared to be wowed.

A new spin tool I created

I am assuming this is a 12" size softball. Have you thought about offering an 11" version for the younger pitchers?

    last lesson w/ Chris

My observation would be that she gets too closed/facing the catcher at her release causing her to push the ball more than she should. I think she can gain whip and find her release point if she works on maintaining that 45 -52 degree angle at release at bit better. JMHO

    Creating Correct Core Torque

For me it was a timely bump. I am starting to work with a group of 10U players and the post of Java's on page 1 regarding the ability of girls in the 8-11 age group having the core strength to stabilize the torque that results from Rick's drill is very insightful. Helps with the progression of...

Why your DD must master the change up

I think this is the pitcher in the video throwing very slow but I could be wrong. Amber Waracka AT UHH 2012 Selected PacWest Pitcher of the Week (Mar. 12) ... 2011 Selected first-team all-PacWest flex player ... selected second-team all-PacWest and Daktronics all-West Region pitcher ... was...

Baylor pitcher ... lagging throwing arm at the start of the up-swing.

I thought the announcers said the Baylor pitcher was taught by her pitching coach to show the bottom of her foot to her catcher. If she was taught that I would have to assume she was taught the lag with the throwing hand. I would view it as a way to create overlap.

    Feedback on Pitcher Please

Her mechanics look really good, she checks off all the boxes as she goes through the motion. Well done. If this was a test and I had to find something to suggest, it would be to get the right heel up a bit sooner in her back swing so the drive would start a little sooner. I try to have my...

High School Player Hit In The Face

Certainly it is a free choice and I'd like to see it stay that way. No one thinks twice about a player wearing a mask now like when my DD played ten years ago. A change for the better.

11 yr old pitcher need help. Forward lean late release! Working towards I/R

If you think her release isn't late because she releases the ball around the 6 o'clock position you are right however if you accept the truth that she needs to release with a brush against her side and isolate the upper arm against her side for that split second that creates whip and speed then...

    Riseball question

Spot on Ken. Once Java clarified the definition of under the thumb rise, I thought Fico and Wilkinson too.

    Riseball question

Java, I missed the under or over the thumb rise ball explanation, can you reference a previous thread or expound further? Which does Sarah P throw with her slicing motion. Thx, Go4

    Help again...

IMHO the issue is she is completely open at 9 o'clock, she should had made the transition to her throwing angles by then and stabilized her hip to receive her arm onto her side for the whip at release. What are throwing angles? For me I have my student stand completely open and do arm circles...

    Hand on Top?

Ken, IMO the process of the turn out at the top of the circle is the sequence of pronation of the forearm at the top of the circle then supination at 9 o'clock then pronation at release. I have had pitchers either turn the ball out at the top or show the ball to the catcher during the entire...

    Screwball help

Ken, Thanks for posting the video. Do you believe that Haeger's screwball breaks? I do and if you do, what spin is on the pitch and why does it break? My opinion is that the spin is the same as Rick Pauly's corkscrew curve which I would think is the same as Boardmember's curve. The...

    "Lead With Your Thumb"

Rich touches upon the topic of lead with thumb here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WJ7V02T8DE&list=PL2d0Um4KQWKdjq0xdfYHHOC7ry5-v_2SE&index=4 I believe there is a good and bad way to lead with thumb depending on the goal of the instruction

    12u pitcher advice

She looks really close to getting it right on the pull down. It looks to me from the video that she gets the ball pointed too much to second base as she starts the pull down from twelve to nine. What I have my pitchers do when I see this to reinforce and feel the correct palm up position at...

    and we're off

Her posture looks a lot better in the last video than in earlier ones. She was hinging too much at the hip, leaning left and creating too much space for arm to get a good brush at release. Good progress. Tell her to keep her head quiet, on a rail through the motion to help her posture at...

    Requesting Input...

I think she looks really good. The things I notice are 1) not enough split in her feet on the pitching rubber(I know there isn't one in the video.) Get a gap between her right heel and left toe, 2) Her glove arm is bent 90 degrees at the 12 o'clock position. Get more extension there. I like...

Possibly a question that's impossible to answer but....

What is the comparison between her overhand throwing speed as compared to her fast pitch speed? I would look at that differential. If they are close then for the moment it might be what it is. If overhand speed is much greater then there should be more underhand. Anyone else find a...
