She's got her regular season schedule, they're not sure about play-offs yet. It doesn't look like our DD's will see each other in out-of-conference games, that would've been cool.
Thanks. Congrats to your daughter as well! I never thought DD would want to go back to a competitive level. And then to get calls from her during tryouts last fall, hearing the excitement in her voice. A great feeling for all.
Thanks! Agreed. Having to walk-on with so much competition, she didn't get her hopes up and just grinded it out. I think she appreciates the spot she earned even more. And it's awesome just seeing her having fun with softball again.
UPDATE! It's been almost exactly two years since the original post. (warning, this is a shameless parent brag)
To save you from the long story, in fall of her junior year DD was burnt out. But she thought walking away from softball meant personal failure. With some encouragement that it was...
Lots of great advice already. Fill her emotional tank, and help her find the fun again.
Changing coaches as well as mechanics can be hard enough, but then also throw in the emotional burden, I'd be surprised if she was successful. My DD went through a down time. She had to walk away from the...
Ask a ton of questions at tryouts.
- Do all kids play and hit in bracket play?
- How do you manage playing time?
- Do you try to play everyone on elimination day?
- What is most important to the coach? Making every kid better by the end of the year, having fun while learning, or collecting...
I'm familiar with this camp. Once they get you on their email list, they will cattle call you to death to come to the camp. Unless your DD is specifically talking to a coach at any of these type of camps, it's probably not worth it other than to get some extra practice.
To add on to what FP26...
3 plate front toss. Plates are lined up vertically with about 2-3 feet spacing. Have the slapper alternate hitting at each plate which helps them adjust timing. When they get good at that, then begin to vary the speed of the front toss pitch as well to add more timing challenge. I like this...

Coach Glasso has little Suzie at the top of her recruiting list, has seen her play and loves her. She wants to see if the stud is also a team player so asks the coach to sit her for the game to see what kind of teammate she is...
My DD's team did this all the time, both on infield singles and on walks. They were usually playing showcase under USA/ASA rules. Her coaches were college coaches, so apparently they and they umps know why is wasn't a violation of the look back rule.
You don't have to be a non-profit. SUTC is the non-profit. Your team is merely fundraising for them, all funds would go to them. You can tell donors, 100% of what they donate will go to cancer research. They explain how it works here... https://www.crowdrise.com/TakeAction-SU2C
