This is my first Sept 1, DD is a 24. It's nice to see that twitter and instagram are flooded with posts about this is just the start, not the finish. I liked this one...

I hope that the fellow '24 parents on here are having a good day.. There's enough room out there for all of our kids to find a place if they are so inclined!

When DD said yes to the offer in the coach's office, he nearly fell out of his chair. That's when I realized we should have held out and kept looking. LOL. But it has turned out perfectly thus far. Literally just got a text from DD saying her manager is working on a permanent job offer after graduation in May. They are trying to lock her day. Perhaps he may want to hold out to see what else is out there.
EXACTLY our situation as we've discussed before and we got the same response from the coach and I had the same dang feeling. DD isn't there yet and won't sign her NLI until November and still have those feels now, lol. Especially seeing how big of a recruiting class he is bringing in next year.... I will say though, she is working harder than I have ever seen with weight lifting and speed work which she has resisted until this summer......

Social media and all of these players posting pictures of themselves in front of an open laptop with a notebook and phone awaiting calls at midnight pretty much sums up that this is a “look at me” and “like my post to validate me” generation. Can’t anything be done in private?

Are you a bad coach if you wait till a reasonable hour (on a school night no less..) to send the e-mail? 😂

It's a "look at me" and "like my post" generation because the technology is there to do it. Things were more "private" in the 70's and 80's because we didn't have the means to make them public. My 75 year old mother-in-law will call my wife complaining that she didn't "like" her facebook post. I'm sure she would have been part of the "like my post" generation in the 50's if social media had existed.

It's a lot more tame for softball than it is for men's sports. I have seen posts from football recruits about every single offer they have received.

I can't be mad at these girls with their open laptops and notebook pictures. This is their time. Comparatively speaking, let them have their time. They're not posting every single offer. For the most part, offers are kept close to the vest. So what is the harm in showing some excitement in the time leading up to midnight? This is what they have worked their butt off for. I dunno, maybe I'm different but I'm happy for them.

I am all for doing everything you can to help you reach your goals. Parents and players just need to make sure that what they are sharing on Social media doesn’t hurt them with regards to this goal.

I am guessing most things won’t hurt if you take them on an individual basis but if you are posting workouts,BP,etc. every day my only concern would be that coaches would become numb towards your content and glaze over the stuff that might actually be useful. Maybe that stuff is useful for some coaches , but to me at least, working hard should be expected if you plan on playing in college 🤷‍♂️
