Mine was said above. Drives me batty. Like I get certifiably insane, when a girl...

HOLDS THE BALL IN THE OUTFIELD.

Arghh!!!! Throw the damn ball. I mean really, know where you'll be throwing it before it's even hit, but even if you haven't been taught that or don't quite get it yet, just get the ball to a MI at least.
I call it, "The statue of liberty play". It can happen at any position. The girl comes up with the ball and holds it over her head like she's gonna throw it but, freezes while she scans the field, deciding what to do. Not getting rid of the ball absolutely irritates me. They should be practicing getting rid of the ball immediately, regardless of the situation. Know what you're going to do with it, BEFORE you even field it. It's so frustrating and I wonder, if this is one element of the game, that can't be taught. Quick reaction. Maybe it's something they're born with.

The NCAA has on multiple occasions ruled differently. Watch the coach grab her and send her back to touch home.
Out.

She wasn't out because the coach grabbed her, she was out because she missed the plate and the other team tagged her on appeal.

Point being that a homerun isn't a deadball do what you want. You still have to run the bases, and other rules still apply.

from what I learned in umpire class, a homerun is a dead ball, yes a player has to touch all 4 bases in order, but she can stop and play pattycake with the coaches if she likes. Teammates can run out on the field field and follow her around the base paths too, players can even carry her around the bases as long as she touches them all, no rule against it in usa or usssa. I may be wrong, let's see what our expert umps here say.

Her own teammates cannot carry her. The opposing team can though. Nor should they enter the field of play and Run with her.

No it’s not recommended a coach hug a player during her home run trot. But it’s not
Assisting and is not an out.

Coaches who watch a team make the same mistake at practice then are shocked when it happens when the game is on the line.

We are being told that in D1 players are being warned to stay out of fair ball territory when the homerun hitter comes home. And we are talking High School, which the alphabet orgs tend to follow.

And No
Rule 8 Batter-Runner and Runner
Section 6 The runner is out
Art 5 Any offensive team member, other than another runner, physically assists the runner
Penalty The ball is in play and runner is out.

Assisting is the determination of the Umpire, and is not something you can appeal. So if you are the umpire you can make that determination, or you can roll the dice.
