So Im sure its the right call, just never seen it implemented tell now in my 2.5 years in 8U. We are talking USA Softball B State Championships. Situation was pitcher pitches a strike with runner on second, turns into delayed steal when catcher throws ball back. Pitcher fires the ball to third, overthrows and ball rolls into dug out. Runner is awarded home on a dead ball. This actually happened 2 times in one inning. Why I dont understand it is, that stealing home is not an option, nor is it an option to take more than 1 base per pitch. So Dead ball or not that runner would not be allowed to advance to home, or any base for that matter? But Im not really sure is why I ask. Turns out if you wanna know the rules you have to download a 14.99 rulebook to your iphone... lol Its pretty bad to loose a game in the state championship this way. especially when the dugout design perfectly facilitates a dead ball over throw to 3rd. But hey none of us argued. I did ask the HUC for a little clarification and I feel like before he understood my question, he told me to not even waste my time with a protest. Oh well guess we gonna have to win this thing the hard way.
