however, like i said above......obviously by game 3 the Auburn staff knew of her decision, and at least accepted it if not allowed it, and that is their decision to make....Walton is the one that took issue with it, and took the matter into his own hands

she's not his monkey, Auburn is not his circus.......nothing she did excuses his decision to push her

Agree w/ you on Walton.

How did Auburn know that the player was going to do what she did? Did that happen in the previous 2 games? I haven't read the full thread, so fill me in if I missed that.

she put her hand down for the Florida staff in the previous 2 games as well.....I would have to assume that the staff knew about it when game 3 rolled around

I don't know maybe I'm raising soft kids but I teach my kids to stand up for what they believe in and to also to always have their siblings back. Here the player did both she had the back of her sisters and she was standing up for what she believed in a non-confrontational manner. Demanding you give hi five after a game is ridiculous, what we should be doing is teaching respect and sportsmanship where players want to give hi fives because they respect the other players and coaches not because it is demanded.

Speaking as a HC if a player participated in these type of shenanigans it would only happen twice. The first time they would be warned, the second time they are done. Same goes for not standing for the national anthem or other BS antics. News flash - this is not about them, it is about the game, the organization, and the team. My Circus. My Monkeys, My Rules.

If you consider someone just walking by you is confrontational I think you may need to rethink some things. If you read my post I said we should be teaching sportsmanship not demanding it. If you learn the reasons behind something it matters much more than just doing it because it is required. Apparently the Auburn coach had no problem with it because she did the same in the previous two games. Actually a lot jerks can't stand up for what they believe because they lack the courage of their convictions. As I teach my kids they are free to believe what they believe but they better be able to defend those beliefs.

Funny story - my DD was playing HS ball when the Kaspernick National Anthem debacle took place. We were sitting in the stands and my DD walked by and one of the other parents jokingly asked her if she was going to kneel during the National Anthem...her reply "Are you kidding me? My mom and dad would come onto the field and snatch me bald headed"...

There is a difference between standing up for what you believe and good sportsmanship...

I guess we disagree I think she did both. She showed sportsmanship to the FL players and she obviously has no respect for the FL staff and did what she did instead of pretend otherwise.

unless she made a reasoned case and he respected her stance

in the big picture it wasn't a huge deal....she respected her opponents, she had an issue with a somewhat larger than life coach, she dealt with as she saw reasonable

only ones who really know what went down with her sisters were in that locker room......only ones that know what went down with little sisters actions are in the Auburn locker room

Myers has a pretty good track record, and this isn't his first go-round.......not only has he brought Auburn some success, but it seems like he's doing something right character-wise, they've seen unprecedented success (for their program) in the classroom (bunch of all-academic honors)

as much as i'd like to say 'not on my team' and look at it through a black & white lens, the world isn't always black & white

i ASSUME myers knew about it by game 3 and either had accepted her reasons......or told her not to and they'll deal with it

the only way i really fault the Auburn staff is if they willfully ignored it or, even by game 3, had no clue it was going on

If she was walking down the street or at some other casual encounter I would agree with you. But when you put on a uniform and step onto the field it is no longer about you. She is representing the NCAA, Auburn University, and the Auburn Softball Program. As such her actions were highly inappropriate.
