IMO, that "strike zone" is a baseball strike zone for the strike tracker and not a softball one. The pitcher just threw a strike and Mendoza said the pitch was a ball. Well, when the batter assumed her stance, she squatted a lot. Though the pitch was out of the K Zone, I thought it was a good pitch per the softball strike zone.

Thoughts on this? (Note, I could be way off base here.)

I was observing that when Lafaele was hitting and straightened up after each pitch, the top of the K Zone was right at her belly button. Again, that is how it appears to me.

That is what started my observation. It seems several pitches have been called strikes this game that I thought were strikes but above the top level of that box. It just happened in this at batof #20 from Oklahoma.

Pat Murphy is now upset about the strike zone. Do you think it causes an umpire to change their strike zone if he know the K Zone is being used? Of course I guess they wouldn't know how it appears or how accurate they were according to the K Zone until after the game so probably not.

Forget about the strike zone box. I haven't seen a legal pitch thrown yet by Osorio, Parker, or Betsa. Every one has the pushfoot come completely off the ground and at least 6" in front of the pitcher's plate. Seems rather obvious the umpires have told - for whatever reason - to ignore IPs.

So in college softball there are stated rules that are not really enforced in order to maintain the entertainment value, just like in professional wrestling?
