Prepare yourself for NJ softball parents in the stands. They are quite "vocal" and not necessarily "knowledgeable".

Well . . .some of us may disagree with that. I know you guys in PA may think you invented the game but a lot of quality coaches, players and parents in NJ softball right now. I have been very impressed with the early season and the HS girls haven't even gotten started yet.

I don't think it was a slight at the talent of the girls or coaches.

From my experience some parents NOT ALL have a fond use of the F-Bomb and other choice words during the game, towards the other teams and coaches. I personally don't care what you say to me but just not to 12-14 year old girls. This has happened in other locations as well but has been more intense in NJ.

What tournament are you headed to? Some of my DDs former teammates are headed down there this weekend also.

When My DD started Travel ball last year,
I made her a mix CD of her favorite "pump-up" songs to enjoy during the ride.
(Mix of mostly 80's rock-metal classics (think AC/DC, BlackSabbath, etc) , and current girly dance-y songs (think Katy Perry, Arianna Grande, etc)...)
Now, it's like a routine that we both enjoy.
We only listen to that CD when we are en route to a tournament.

bring money for tolls. Lots of money.

You won't eat as much as you think. Especially if the cooler is at the car. Bring power bars. Stop at the WaWa for coffee and breakfast sandwich. Buy bowl of fruit at WaWa and bring your sunscreen. Supposed to be sunny this weekend. Find Cracker Barrel after games to recharge. That is pretty much our routine in S Jersey.

All good advice, except for the Cracker Barrel <yuck>. NJ is the land of diners. Ask the locals which one they recommend and go there!

I think the best diners are in the North part of the state but I live there so am more familiar with them. The Skylark on Rt 1 is very good.

It does transition in-between the raunch and the sugar with some coldplay, greenday, imagine dragons, etc.
I did try to arrange for a pleasant progression.

two things are a must for us at tournaments:
Find an old-skool diner for breakfast on Sunday,
and a mom-n-pop Ice Cream Stand on Saturday night.
