I've said this before, but at most schools the percent of STEM majors is really small to begin with and, unfortunately, even smaller for women. Also, my guess is if Keilani Ricketts wanted to major in Physics most schools would have been fine with it..

Shannon Rhodes signs to go to Texas. Texas girl returns to Texas, and stays with the coaches that recruited her.

When we went to a camp at Oregon last year, Shannon talked about her relentless emailing of the coaches. "Stalkers get scholarships", as she put it - LOL.

I'm shocked I tell you. Shocked. :D

Thanks, though, as I wouldn't have noticed unless FloSoftball references.

Cute note on the stalkers and relentless emailing. The process works. Talent is the ultimate factor but in order to get noticed effort on the field and on the keyboard is needed.

So far, 3 of the 6 transfers out of Oregon have gone to Texas. Mary Iakopo, Madi Bishop, and Alyssa Pinto (a new freshman) have not been announced.

When none of the players on the team are from the state or grew up cheering for the program, why would any of them be loyal to the school?
If Oregon had a roster of all girls from Oregon, then they likely wouldn't leave when a coach does.

My mistake, oregon did have one girl on the team last year from oregon, a freshman. Guess she saw no reason to be loyal to a state school that is not loyal to the state's players and pads the majority of its roster with out of state talent.

DILLIGAF - Oregon isn't generally a hotbed of high-level softball talent. If a program is trying to compete at the highest levels, they are going to recruit the best players, no matter where they come from. Same as everyone else...in all sports. Also, Lauren Burke played for Mike White when he was a travel ball coach. Her following Coach White to Texas isn't a big surprise. Likewise with Megan Kleist going to ULL to be with her old coach. Those bonds can be powerful.
