With the WCWS being the same teams almost year in and year out, do you think that the secondary tournament may actually become more popular, as everyone loves the cinderella story, as well as year in and year out it will be a different mix?

Is it OK to say no? after 60 games and NOT qualifying for the Championship bracket, I would say its time to let the body heal a bit and get ready for next year. But if they want to shove 6-10 more games down her throat, why not? It's the school that gets to make the choice, not us or our DD's.

On a serious note, I am not all that opposed to it, but its really not for ME and not for my DD...... it's for the 5th grade girl (or unborn for that matter) who will have one more possible landing spot due to added funds to a schools budget. That is where the real benefit to this is.... the sport itself.

I am sure that schools would have the right to decline the invitation.

It would be an average of 4 more games. Close to half would be 2 and out. The only teams playing 6+ games would be those who might win it, and for them, they probably don't mind.

I don't see this tournament having great appeal to fans except for us crazies. I think this is more about the teams, players and schools involved.

As for the same teams in the WCWS, that's a two-edged sword. Variety makes things more interesting, but so does tradition. Oklahoma vs. Alabama is fun. Oklahoma vs. Cinderella is fun. Cinderella vs. Cinderella is probably the least appealing. You need Goliath.
