Few weeks ago I posted a youtube clip of WarriorAngelas Pitching. Finally put it all together. Let me know what your thoughts are on the camera angles. To much? OR not enough? I totally forgot to video her fielding a bunt and throwing to second and first. Dang!!!

If you like what you see, please give the video a "like" or "thumbs up".

As a work of art or as a skills video?

Work of art - love the angles and so on. A+

As a skills video for coaches... it is too much and makes it hard to assess

Some thoughts:

- Split screen her talking at the start with the right side to include contact details. Don't make it hard for coaches to contact you. I actually include email address as a caption onscreen the whole video in ours. It is all the info you put right at the end - it also needs to be upfront as well. You also need to include WHERE you are. I have no idea where Jurapa Hills HS is and a coach isn't going to look it up.
- The above view of batting is cool, but literally tells me nothing. You can get rid of it.
- Replace the above batting view with staying with the hit longer on the back view. I want to see the ball land or go over a fence. If anything the video during batting moves too quick for assessment.
- Also the cuts from angle to angle make it hard for me to assess. I want to see a few from the side, and a few from the back. Same with pitching.
- YOU NEED TO FIND A FIELD WITH A FENCE - and preferably distance markers. Without it I am guessing as a coach.
- I want to see feet in the behind view of pitching. Also you need to get lower to 'fill the frame'. The angle makes her look shorter than she probably is. Always shoot slightly up at your subject - it makes them look taller
- Side view she often ends the pitch off the screen - frame it so she is left of frame so there is more room for her to pitch into.
- I want a caption with some indication of pitching speed - I don't want to guess (BTW, as a college coach I look at the speed on the video and minus anywhere between 2-5 mph unless there is a radar gun in shot)

Ok - to me the most important thing: What this video tells me as I watch it as a coach would:

Player is a decent hitter with a good looking swing. Not sure about how much power she has.
She is a drop ball pitcher second, but hitting is her #1 skill. Solid speed but not sure where she tops out speed wise.
She can field at 3rd. Moves well laterally and has good technique but not particularly quick especially moving forward (note it takes her 3 sec to get to the bunt - so everyone is safe).

I don't think this adequately describes the player your DD is. In fact I am sure it does not.

I am going to PM you a link to my DD's video. We need to redo it for a few reasons, but it is a good reference and so far is doing what we were hoping it would do.

Mike, I envy your skills with the camera and the editing software. As you know we are going through this process of "trying" to come up with decent skills and highlight videos for both DD's right now. Unfortunately, I don't have much input over what the company our team has chosen for filming actually does or how they do it. Given your examples (this one and previous efforts you've shared) along with marriard's comments here and some other threads on this subject I have a fairly definite opinion of what should and should not be included and what the end result should be like. Now we just need to create it!

Marriard you did a great job of giving specific advice and it all makes sense! If you are willing to share your DD's video with me I'd love to see what you've got for further reference. Thanks!!
