Butler CC in college in Kansas are two time national champs. Last year they had five players move on to P5 schools. Don’t know if they play D1’s in the fall, but yeah, they can go out and beat them too. Spring might be a little different, but the top JUCO's can still compete.

Never knew there were CCs like this. Good to know.

Butler is very good. They beat Chipola in the 2016 final and then Butler won it all again vs Salt Lake in 2017. Those programs can play with most any NCAA D1 program. Many JUCOS have upward of 20 full athletic scholarships, so it is a great place to start. You can chase fair balls for 2 years at a JUCO, or you can chase foul balls for the first 2 years at BigName U.

Is there some place those strong softball JUCOs are listed?

For Florida look at who is in the top of NJCAA Division 1, Region 8. Including but not limited to Chipola, College of Central Florida (Coached by Kevin Fagan), Florida SouthWest, Miami Dade, Northwest Florida, Indian River, Seminole State and others. Otherwise see who regularly makes it to St. George Utah.

Do out-of-state students go to those schools? I never heard of out-of-state students going to the JUCOs in my area.

I would also like to add a message emphasizing sluggers post about girls REALLY wanting to play in college. A lot of girls love playing TB when they practice once a week for a couple of hours and play games every other weekend. When your DD plays softball in college it is 3+ hour/day EVERY DAY. It is a grind - DD was lucky in that she got a taste of the grind playing HS ball. When you factor in that most players are on fractional scholarships, your DD really needs to LOVE playing for her to stick with it.

I worked with someone who played at a DI school. She quit after her freshman year - she said she hated it. She said she was so much happier afterwards because she could enjoy college instead of spending all her free time at practice or working out or all the other stuff they had to do.
