DW, DD 2 and DD 3 are with one of DW's cousins sightseeing in San Fran right now. I will probably move to the Bay area. but the question is what year. Do I wait for DD 2 to graduate HS in 2018, or wait for DD 3 to graduate HS in 2020. Or will something come along before then to completely throw a monkey wrench into my plans, like my previous attempt to move to NYC?

We take a United redeye to Chicago right after midnight Saturday night, then a morning flight back home to Madison. I hope the Friendly Skies really are friendly for us.

DS had a rowing race we missed last Saturday in Milwaukee, and has another race in Madison we will miss. He has a race the following Saturday in a lovely state park north of Madison, which we will probably have to miss because we will take DD 2 to Chicago for some college hunting. We would love to take DD 3, but she will almost certainly have to go with her JV team to a double header, and sit on the bench the entire time as partial punishment for games she missed college hunting. Yes, she misses games college hunting, and her punishment is to sit out games, which she cannot miss for more college hunting or else there would be still more games for her to sit out. Which is why we love HS softball so much.

I can't believe you guys haven't started yet. We're 5 games in but they've all been home games since our field drains well. Good luck tomorrow
thanks.
Our town is terrible when it comes to support of softball. Every sport except for ice hockey is playing on a new field (or court). Baseball has a dozen or so town workers and (7) trucks manicuring the field and installing a new $18,000.00 backstop. Softball field doesn't drain at all and has the "same crummy backstop that was there in the '70's when I played there" (Coach quote).
now the one day of the week we could make plans for has been taken away from us.

On a brighter note, DD was mentioned in the Boston Herald's "players to watch". the coach tells me there should be a good mention in an upcoming Boston Globe Sunday. I hope she's able to start playing for real soon!

Murph- good luck! I see your team was seeded high in the South rankings (ours didn't even make the list for the North!)

DD just passed her driver's test and she plans on going to a swim party today once she gets back from the test. One hour away. I have a major craving from some Crawfish. I am thinking about calling some friends and buying a sack. Add in some sausage, shrimps, brussell sprouts, whole garlic pods, corns, taters and I am ready to go!!!

Sounds like a Title IX lawsuit threat might be in order

DD was listed in the Herald Players to watch also. Still trying to figure out how we were seeded #2 when we were one of only 2 teams to beat the team who is seeded #1. Hoping for a long playoff run this year, Currently 5-0 but we're playing a couple of non-league division 1 teams next week so we'll see how it goes.

The only actual softball I have seen in a week was a teenage girl practicing pitching with her father as we watched the Maui waves crash on the beach! I'm glad I am not the only crazy daddy to bring his catcher's glove with him on vacation (did that a few years ago in Aruba).
