A couple of weekends ago we were at a Tournament out of State (neighboring State) and ran into a lady who works for National Scouting Report, a recruiting service. She asked if she could talk to the girls during a break. We agreed and she spoke about the recruiting process and what she could do for them. She was interested in one of our catchers and watched a couple of our games, and talked to the parents.
Come to find out last weekend, not only did she sign the girl up for the recruiting service, but this recruiter also coaches a Travel Team and invited the catcher to her practice, then offered her a spot on her team. The girl accepted (although I don't believe she actually researched the team as they have a roster of 18 and she makes the 5th catcher).
Does this happen in the other parts of the Country? I know at least with our team, if a girl contacts us about leaving her current team, we instruct her to finish out the season, and if she says she quit the team, we always contact the coach and talk to them about the situation.
Yeah, I guess a little bitter because we turned away a few girls because we already had the catcher positions filled.
