Developing an ability to square the ball consistently begins prior to working the barrel towards the ball ... in golfing speak, a good backswing helps set the stage for a good downswing.
In this video the Gears Golf 3D technology is used to demonstrate extension of the body in the backswing (setting up barrel launch).
Note the attention to the rear leg extending ... not flexing.

i have been using this cue, in an altered version.
What I tell them is to start "tall" then 'fall" Rather than start small, and stay that way.
they will start "tall' "fall into "sat" and swing. it feels like a bounce, with the energy transfer into the ball.
When they "fall" it gets them into the SNF position.
