DD has good form in practice, shes only pitched 4 innings total in games. Does great in practice. Slows everything down and tries to guide. Gave her same cues as in practice. Any suggestions?
How old is she? Mine did the same for week after week after week when she first tried pitching, but even in practice she'd often try to aim it. Every girl has her a-ha moment at a different time, but when the lightbulb does finally switch on, it's a beautiful thing.
You should not give pitchers cues during a game. You don't want her thinking, you want her throwing.
So, keep your encouragements as generic as possible, stuff like "Throw the ball" and "Go get 'em." Make notes about what she does wrong during the game, and work on that during practice.
Does she ever simply throw in practice? Are you always giving her instruction in practice? Is there any time in practice where the emphasis is on smoothness rather than technique?
