My DD developed similar spin in the last few mths. Inside fb tends to have bullet spin. Outside fb she rolls thru release and has drop curve spin. It can be effective but we know its not right.

Try the spin right spinner or a hockey puck. If she is not flipping correctly, it will just wobble away. You can also use a hand sized football.

Your PC is seeing good movement. That would be why I would say "Nice."

Also, various finger pressure can change the spin on the ball. Also, you could try spinning a baseball and see how that goes.

The youth size football does a very good job of teaching them to keep the hand "inside the ball". It will also teach them to let the ball roll off the fingers. If released properly, you get a nice spiral with the nose of the ball up. If they roll the wrist over without letting the ball spin off the fingertips, you'll get a flat end over end flight.

Thanks for your responses.

Outside of tip of finger or middle of finger?

Does anyone have a close up slowed down vid of release. BoardMember is great for seeing the spin. Amanda Scarborough's may be the best one for seeing the actual release for those of us still struggling to grasp the release point and what it takes to properly obtain the correct spin.

HOF,
Do you see her spin well? Do you catch for her or is she throwing into a net/tarp/blanket? I'm a little worried about the focus on trying to get the down/in semi spiral spin. The spin is the result of a good, loose whip that's been well sequenced. Loose whip needs be the focus. The spin will happen. My concern is if you focus on the result more than the whip, it may become somewhat mechanical and forced. Look for elbow leading, palm up and a loose, relaxed whip. Allow whip to happen. You may get a mix of spins. The down/in will often locate down/in. The crop often goes up/away. You might notice a 12/6 go right down the middle

Chat with her about the spins and ask her how they felt. Praise her on the down/in, but also ask her what the drop or crop felt like. The more she can learn to see the spin and connect that to how it felt, the quicker she can own/control what she's doing and self assess, correct and grow.

At about the finger tip knuckle??? Please elaborate. Isn't it more off the side of the outside of the index finger at about the skin at the side of the finger tip nail?

It might help if you could figure out if it's a palm up or palm down curve. Palm down, drop curve, and she is coming around the outside of the ball meaning that she is using IR too early or not fully in the IR pre-position coming down the backside. Palm up and she's in good position but she has her wrist cupped too much at release, her palm is staying under the ball.
