There is no correlation between height and pitching effectiveness (or durability). This is one of those old school fallacy's that won't die.
I would agree that taller pitchers get more opportunities, hence the self fulfilling prophecy.
I agree as well, some make decisions based on height. My own DD's coach made an exception in my DD's case, she like her pitchers tall.
My DD was 5'6" and could throw in the mid 60's. The junior was a 6' Canadian that could never throw it past 54mph. They saw potential in her height.
