The parents of a former team mate of my lil one asked if I would teach their daughter how to pitch. I wasn't really up for it when I first thought about it, but I kept on focusing on the fact that her coach will not let her pitch at all in 10U fallball in rec and that is a bit of a pet peeve. I've always thought that a desire to pitch and a willingness to practice 3x a week are all that is required of a little girl that wants to pitch in rec. regardless of outcomes. No doubt it is probably a daddy ball coach, happened to both my girls when they first started, had to sit and watch a coaches daughter get all the innings. I am going to take great pleasure in unleashing another DFP trained kid on an unsuspecting rec daddy baller.

Here's a possible bonus to the situation...being that she's not your kid, she might actually listen to your instruction. ;)

If I coached REC ball again I would have a practice or two where EVERYONE tried to pitch. No telling how many great pitchers go undiscovered because they never tried....fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how one looks at it, my DD was not a great outfielder, so when the coach asked for volunteers to learn how to pitch after her first year of TB she raised her hand because she did not want to play LF for the rest of her career - not that there is anything wrong with that!

Where were you when my dd expressed desire to pitch in rec ball?? She did but she never could get a word in...and of course I knew nothing about it or what steps to take. Kudos to you for being available and taking up the offer. :)
