Now you have some of the best tools available. Have DD throw the RevFire ball while wearing the AccraSpeed.......don't tell her you are checking her pitch speed.....but have her try to hit new high settings on the AccraSpeed. Done this with several girls with some very good success.......they just generate more overall energy in their attempt to achieve a new high on the AccraSpeed.
Some kids seize up when they think you have a radar gun on them......sometimes you've gotta trick them....
The speed on the RevFire is only good for relative readings. Lets you know if that grip or what ever change you make, during that session has affected the speed.
My daughter spun the rev fire at ten years old at 35feet with an 11 inch ball at 17rps. I bet its way better now she will be 12 in july. Pauly could you inbox me maybe a price on a rev fire system. Pitching coach has one but I think having one will be useful.
The distance setting establishes the basis for the math calculation generating the average speed displayed. It isn't an actual speed reading.
Question: Does it matter that the pitcher isn't actually at 43' on release? Not to mention that we usually don't catch the ball over the back triangle of home plate either.
I had the same question on the speed. I assume it takes into account the difference in release point to actual plate to plate distance, but I am getting 47-51 MPH readings on the REVFIRE and 42-46 MPH readings on my Bushnell. It says to set up 3 feet behind the plate and I am doing that but it still seems like it is reading too fast. I always suspected my particular Bushnell read a little slow but not this much. Being a pitchers dad, I think the best thing to do is to add the speeds together and say she pitches about 90 MPH.
I've had my RevFire since it first came out for sale. Lots of comments on the speed accuracy on this thread. It is set such that it takes into consideration normal release distance from home plate and normal catcher set up......since it gets its speed output based on time and distance, any variation will affect its accuracy. After about a week of use you will have it figured out and it becomes relatively accurate. It will definitely show you the difference in speed between your dropball or riseball or change up......great feedback as you combine that with spin rate and ball movement.
