Each girl on the team was asked to raise $250 this year. The team sold outfield fence banners to local businesses for $125 each. I was able to sale 2 banners. However, at Wednesday's game I noticed that only one of the banners that we sold was on the fence (season is almost over). I asked dd if she knew if all of the banners were up she said yes. Yesterday, I happened to run in to the owner of the business that purchased a banner that isn't up and he asked me how the banner looked and said that he was going to come to one of our games. I said that I look forward to seeing him at the game and avoided talking about the banner. What do I do???

I don't mind participating in fundraising but I feel like that if I am receiving money from a business and they ask what it is going towards ..... and I give them an answer .....that's were the money should go. I think it is fraud to sale a banner and banner isn't purchased.

I am wondering where the money went...the team took 15 players and they raised 250 each!!!! The only thing that the team provided was a jersey families had to purchase pants, belts and socks.

You can chase the money if you want, I would not.

I would however demand that banner be put up! I can be really annoying if I want to be.

Regardless if it was an oversight or deliberate (fraud) it need to get fixed. I would contact whomever was responsible and insist that it be resolved or the money refunded. Beyond the banner issue if this is a Middle School team the financials should be subject to a FOIA request. I would file that straight away.

These things happen with unorganized volunteer groups like middle school teams. That banner needs to be put up. You will probably need to give the business owner an extra year of sponsorship to make up for the oversight.

I do not care if the money DD raises goes to the cross country team. I would really like it if the money the cross country team went to SB. I am sure the money coming in is going somewhere, I just think you will need a brilliant account to figure it all out. I doubt they said all the money you raise will go into the SB program, probably just a general fund.

(That new score board that has supports 3 digits wasn’t paid for by the current SB players.)

I would just want to know how much came in and how much was spent. The whole general fund nonsense is why I never provided a cash donation. Instead I would opt for a couple dozen game balls or something that had a good chance of being used for softball.

Different sports need different things at different times. If you need to redo the SB field you are going to get the money from all the other sports, the current players are not going to pay for it. If they need to redo the football field, SB players are going to contribute to it.

New pitching machine is needed, all the players in the school contribute.

I understand your point but I think it is more about the school then just SB.

$250X15=$3,750. Did the team games have umpires? Did the team provide softballs, bats, & catchers equipment?

I was in charge of fundraising this year for our HS team and I would have no problem with a parent asking me about a banner that may have been overlooked. Most people doing this have regular jobs, so oversight is common. Just send an email to the person responsible for the banners and mention that one of your DD's sponsors does not have a banner.
