    Another Glove Slapping Question

Thanks for the replies...Amy or Hal (or anyone) do u have any video links of pitchers who do it the way u support so I can get a better visual? I see countless videos of Finch, Uneo, Osterman, etc. but they don't do it like u describe. I am not saying high level pitchers don't, I just want to...

    Another Glove Slapping Question

I am not debating the reasons why glove slapping is bad or why it's not a big deal. I am looking for practical alternatives (hopefully with video so I can better understand). Wouldn't pulling it back to the holster position just cause it to slap the hip instead of the thigh?

    Another Glove Slapping Question

Hi All, I know glove slapping has been covered A LOT. I don't want to re-ignite the debate of is it bad/good/neutral. My daughter is learning to pitch (9 yo), and doing pretty well for her age. Anyway, she does slap the thigh with her glove, not because she thinks it's "cool", but because it...

    Am I wrong ??

Thanks for the replies. To answer a couple of the questions/comments... Coogan: 10u does have different rules than 8u in my town & it would be my daughter's responsibility to adapt to the 10u rules. She did fill in a game or 2 at the 10u rec level when a team was short players. It's not an...

    Am I wrong ??

I want her to play up, but the league isn't allowing 8u aged girls to try out for the 10u team even though there won't be an 8u team.

    Am I wrong ??

Hi all...I just wanted to get some honest, unbiased opinions about whether I am justified in being pi**ed off. My daughter played 8u for our town "travel" team last summer. It's a small thing...2 tourneys, but it's the first experience for these girls in "competitive" games where wins & losses...

    Pitching I/R help please

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zEDrhyVq7bM Board Member & others...I am curious if she seems to be on the right path with her IR mechanics. Thanks

    Pitching I/R help please

Thanks Board Member. The PC actually wasn't concerned with the fact that she had some bullet spin...it was me. I saw the other girls (all older and trying to convert to IR) in the group rolling over early (causing more downward rotation) and I thought there was a problem with my daughter's...

    Pitching I/R help please

Board Member...Does the "football drill" you refer to sometimes cause a bullet spin to develop? My daughter is new to pitching (9 y/o) & she took a series of group lessons (4 kids) with the only I/R pitching coach that I could find locally. They did use the football drill & I think the PC is...

Initial hand move to properly turn the barrel?

I am trying to wrap my mind around the "Turn the Barrel" move before I try to teach it to my daughter. I understand the concept of why it works & why it gives early bat speed. What I need a little help with is figuring out what direction the hands should be pulling. I know that the top hand...

    Stretch & Fire Success!

Sorry to sound ignorant, but what is the SnF drill? I know it stands for Stretch n Fire, but is there a clip showing the drill anywhere? Thanks

8 yr old DD in cage

Wow!! I just checked back & this thread really ran away from my questions about my little 8 y/o's swing !! Anyway, I appreciate all those who offered me advice. The general consensus seems to be: 1) that her bat is way too long/big for her -although I checked & her Tball bat was 25" 15 oz...

8 yr old DD in cage

I am sure that I know less about hitting than most of the posters here, but I looked at it frame by frame and I just don't see what I think is bat drag. It looks like the rear elbow never gets in front of the hands...she actually stacks it pretty well. I am not defending the swing because...

8 yr old DD in cage

Thanks for the feedback !! OK, looking at the video, her bat does look HUGE for her...LOL It's only a 29" 17.5 oz. It's about the size of what most of her teammates used last summer. She asked for it & I'm a sucker, so she got it. I guess the problem is that she's a year younger than most...

8 yr old DD in cage

Hi all, I just wanted to get some ideas of what to work on with my daughter. The machine was set at around 40. Any constructive advice is appreciated. Also I wanted to know if the way she "lags" her bat in her stance is an issue. IOW, should her bat be more upright or wrapped instead of...

    Transition from Tee to Pitches

Could timing also play a part in it? My DD has a really nice tee swing & hits the ball very well off a tee. Instructors at clinics have been extremely complimentary of her swing, however in BP or games the results are clearly not on par. I'm sure some of the mechanics are breaking down, but...

How to teach MAINTAINING the tilt

Thanks guys...Just so I am clear, when you say Hold the hands straight out at her sides palm down, go to weight shift and rotate down to the ball...you mean to stand with your hands out like an airplane before rotating?? My co-workers are looking at me like I am insane as I am trying to act...

How to teach MAINTAINING the tilt

Hi, I have been working with my daughter a fair amount on her swing, and I think she has progressed pretty well. Still lots of work to do, but she is pretty far ahead of most of the girls in her age group. I understand the need for tilt (I think she does too), so I am not trying to open a...

Teaching force outs vs. tag outs to 8u

Does anybody have a good way to explain to 8u girls when a situation requires a tag out vs. when "just step on the base" is the play to make. My daughter pretty much gets it...not fully, but pretty much, but I think that is from me pestering her with questions & information all the time...but I...
