    Best mid-Atlantic organizations?

Sorry- I wasn't clear- I meant team organizations. Tryout season is upon us and I was curious what organizations are considered the most competitive from an outside perspective. Not many mid-Atlantic teams make it to ASA or PGF national events compared to teams from the west coast and south...

    Best mid-Atlantic organizations?

So I know we're not the same as the west coast or south, but we try to play good softball in the mid-Atlantic states, too. It's the start of crazy season in softball- which organizations in the mid-Atlantic states are considered the most competitive?

Where do we find the right team?

You may be too late for this but I suggest spending a Saturday attending a local tournament. That will give you a chance to see how the coaches, players, and parents carry themselves and give you an idead about the overall skill level. Ask yourself whether you can see your family spending most...

    Interference?

Our coaches argued the call for about 20 minutes and insisted the UIC come over but the call still stood. We lost the game, but afternour coach (who is a former umpire) took the rule book over to the UIC to show him the rule and suggest he study it.

    Interference?

That was exactly our question! They said the runnerhad one foot in fair territory when running to first. The UIC told our head coach he didn't know the rule. Plate ump was overheard telling opposing team's coach that we were all a bunch of "idiot a******s".

    Interference?

Very similar thing happened to our team today leading to a 20 minute delay while coaches, umpires, and UIC "discussed." Runner at 2nd. Batter bunted to pitcher. Pitcher threw to 1st hitting batter-runner in the back of the hemet as she touched the bag. Runner at 2nd scored. Batter-runner...

A question about asking a coach to see you play

Good advice in the posts above. From experience with my DD I would add: 1. Send coaches your skills video and ask for feedback. We were surprised how many coaches offered specific feedback and suggestions based on her video. 2. Be persistent. She often didn't get a response to the first...

    Showcase - Playing Time Question

CJ - my oldest DD is a senior and plays for one of the more established VA Beach orgs. Our guidance for showcases is: 1. Committed players play very little, usually just an inning here or there to give the uncommitted girls a break. 2. Uncommitted players play more the closer they are to...

    Do colleges compete for players?

I think just like most other things, it depends on the nature, and sometimes character, of the coach. DD is deciding between 3 schools , 2 in the same conference. 1 coach didn't ask about other schools at all. The other did and had very positive things to say about both of the other coaches and...

    Considering a move to Texas

Thanks all! Softball will definitely be a factor in any decision. (Only real softball families understand that.) DH already discovered the Glory! I know there is a HUGE difference between softball in VA and TX, but both girls currently play for one of the top programs here so want to make sure...

    Considering a move to Texas

Our family is just starting to research a possible relocation to east TX. Anyone have reccomendations on areas/school districts to look at? We are in the very early stages of this process and aren't sure where to even begin. We are researching Dallas/Fort Worth suburbs, Tyler area, or the...

    Rolled Bats in 10U

So...will you still use this guy as a hitting instructor? Just curious.

    Commitment - WWYD?

I'd add that sometimes the girls are"burnt out" on mom or dad's overzealous attitude about softball. My DD walked away the fall of her sophmore year because she was tired of fighting with her dad about softball. She wanted a dad, not another coach, batting instructor, conditioning coach, or...

    Takeover Dad

HC was AC last season to a HC that was much more outspoken. I think it is just his nature to be more quiet and reserved. I know several of the parents have told their daughters to only take instruction from the official coaches. I think the guy is fairly knowledgeable, but do not care for his...

    Takeover Dad

Agreed! We don't do "drop and dash" at practices or tournaments like some parents do. DH or I are there for eveything, but I do want to know the background of the people who are around my daughter. I do know the names of all the parents on the team. Some of the other parents know the family frim...
