June is when the first tournament is scheduled for their season. He told us that they would play one in April and two in May just to keep the younger girls playing, but when he sent out the new revised schedule, he took those tournaments off the schedule. It is not illegal to do both travel and hs ball in our state. Travel ball goes year around. I don't see the difference than what we did during the middle school seasons. They practice and played two games a week from August to November and kept up with their travel ball obligations. For those...- 8utbmom

what's a good throwdown time for a 10u catcher?
For the first time my dd was timed doing her throwdown from home to second. Her coach didn't say if her time was good or bad, but he was offering different tips to help her. Her throwdown from her glove to the ss was 2.1 seconds. Is that acceptable and if not, how could she improve that...- 8utbmom

I agree, but I'm a parent, not a coach. I wasn't sure about this coaches point of view and the conversation was just nagging at me, I guess. I don't think pick ups were an issue, but HOW and when they were played. They played their 9 in pool games that determined the bracket that they fall into...- 8utbmom

I honestly don't know why they are classified that way...maybe it's just our area (south east?) I would say it should be A, B, C and D, but I have seen it go A, AA, B, BB and then C and D in bigger tournaments. Is it reasonable for 10u catcher to catch all games?
We live in the south, so it's always hot and humid. On her old team, my dd has caught as many as 7 games in a weekend. All of that work and pressure made her want to quit softball all together. My dd is the starting catcher on her tb team. There is 1 other catcher, but she honestly can't block a thing.
