Liberty Advanced. I know white, but it will look like a "real" softball glove after a few games. Make sure to take a picture of it when it's new :0)

Ordered the Vinci JCV-VM black for my DD. Received about 5 days ago... after 2 days of steaming at home and pounding with a mallet, then 2 days of catching with my DD, the glove is breaking in very well. So much that it is already usable. My DD used it today for tryouts and it worked very well. She didn't want to use her old mitt.

My DD loves the fact that she doesn't feel the sting of the ball and that when the ball lands in the pocket, it produces a nice and strong sound. She was instantly in love with this mitt. A bit expensive, but worth it. Great pocket, extra palm padding (for girls like mine who do not like to use inner glove), and unusually light weight for its size.

My DD had gone through 2 mitts in 1-1/2 years (a low end Mizuno, which didn't last long and then the Easton SYFP2000, which does not have a very good pocket). The Vinci seems to be a keeper.

Is the shell (finger and thumb stalls) on this mitt mesh? If so, NO THANK YOU. I'll take Wilson's SuperSkin over mesh any day.

Only four fingers are mesh, the thumb stall is leather. My DD had not tried the Wilson... assuming at some point in her softball career she will try it and form an "opinion". At the end of the day, the important thing is that she loves the Vinci and that is good enough for me.

Thank you for your view though.

The first gloves I remember utilizing mesh was Franklin. They were youth gloves and they were very cheap....because they were cheaply made foreign crap and didn't last very long. Maybe today's mesh on the high-end gloves contain carbon fiber, kevlar or some other material to make the mesh a viable option. Otherwise, the mesh coupled with sweat, dirt, sun, and rain will not last as long as leather.

The Vinci Mesh Series is constructed with kip leather and kevlar mesh back. So, it is not fabric. I'll report back next year once she had gone through a season with it. My DD can be very rough on these mitts.

Is there a liner on the mesh, or is that what the hands contact in the stalls?

My dd's personal catcher's mitt is a custom Capire full kip leather. It is a very light mitt. If the finger stalls were mesh you probably would not notice the weight difference. My dd's catcher's mitt given by her school and that she has to use in the field during games is a Louisville Slugger Xeno and it is a piece of garbage. Utilizing mesh on that Xeno would probably help with comfort and break-in.
