Already got some help via pm but thought I'd ask the rest of you gurus if there any good tools (Insider Bat or whatever that thing is called) or drills to use when one's primary swing flaw is casting the hands? When dd's swing goes south, she leads with the hands, her arms extend prior to contact and she hits a lot of routine grounders. Became more of a problem when she developed right hip/back pain and it seemed like she was no longer able to fire her hips (MRI was mostly good news - some wear and tear, needs some time off and then physical therapy to strenghten her core muscles). Bat speed went WAY down. I went down a rabbit hole last night and searched youtube videos for fixes to casting hands, and a couple seemed promising. One in particular (Dave madigan I believe) advised setting up a tee inside and DEEP in the plate (instead of out front like one would normally hit an inside pitch) and tell the batter to hit the ball hard up the middle. Impossible to do if you cast the hands since the ball is so close to the hitter's body. What do you think of that drill?
6 to 8 weeks before she picks up a bat so looking for suggestions. Thanks in advance!!
