I love making fun of tryout ads,

I know it's rude, but, for example, if you're a college showcase team, isn't it a given that you are interested only in ''experienced A level'' pitchers and ''strong'' shortstops? I mean, I've never heard a showcase team that said ''no experience necessary, B pitchers are welcome,'' or ''need a shortstop, but don't necessarily have to be good.''

Hopefully they have a sense of humor. Sounds like a good organization. Nothing in the ad that wouldn't make me interested if DD were in fact an experienced A-level pitcher or strong shortstop. She is neither.

I love the ads that say "we are an A-level team, need a starting pitcher, catcher, SS and CF".....

Given the number of showcases that have popped up across the country, along with the expansion of the existing showcases, any team willing to pay the entry fee can get into one and officially call themselves a "showcase team".....

When half of the time they really mean "We need a few girls to join our team of 9 studs so we can use your monthly dues and fundraising efforts to continue to play. It's expensive out there!

I call those sponsors. Sad thing is, the player and/or parents usually take the deal with the promise of being developed.

I hope ruffryders takes these comments as constructive and any negativity is in jest. Their website is impressive and I applaud them for bringing more diversity to the sport we love. It always seems like a challenge for minority communities to field competitive softball programs and they appear to be off to a great start.

I hope you stick around and participate in the forum ruffryder.
