Dragging the back foot and windmill pitching at the same time is such an unnatural movement that no wonder the best, elite pitchers (Ueno, Cat, Dallas, Waldrop, Nevins, etc.) in the game still have a hard time keeping the toe on the ground. Get rid of this ridiculous rule and let the women pitch like the men and international players already. Pitching is hard enough now that 13YO have to pitch from 43 feet against practically full grown women wielding -8 drop composite bats that have been taking weekly lessons for 5 or 6 years.

With that said, there is plenty of blame to go around for Sunderland-Finch's situation: the player; the player's parents; the "leap' rule; the umpires for lack of consistent enforcement, the team coaches who turned a blind eye; and the PCs are all to blame for her predicament. The flap she is wearing is a disgrace to the integrity of the game and needs to be removed immediately. I'm sure the NCAA will not let this farce continue. Just a shame on so many fronts....

Get rid of the "advancing runners" and just call it a ball. That would get my vote immediately.

I would agree but add that the pitcher must be removed after the 3rd IP to keep the game moving. They would be free to hit or play another position but their time in the circle would be done.

If its good for the goose, its good for the gander. No problem, I'm sending my slappers to the plate with shoe extensions so that their feet are still in the batter's box when they otherwise are 3 feet up the line. And I'll send my slowest bench players out to pinch run wearing my school's official shoe sponsor's custom-made 60-foot long shoe extensions. And for that one game before it all hits the fan with the NCAA, I'll dig up PT Barnum to sell tickets, concessions, and official team gear, including bobble-headed dolls with Bozo shoes.

Not much makes me mad, but this girl beat my DD ( barely ) out of the State Coaches Association Pitcher of the Year in high school. Her stats were just a tad better, but she's been illegal since 12u. No PC, no coach, no ump, no org, ever would call IP on her or admit there was a problem. To add even more insult, this was the picture in the paper and online, when she was given the award. I just about came unglued when I saw it.

I cropped the team name out.

I am thinking really long shoe lace. Aren't they are as much part of the shoe as The Flapper or extensions? 60 foot long laces with a weight on the end. Walk to 2nd base spool it out as you go. Once you get to 2nd reel it in and head for 3rd! :)

One interesting observation. When DD played 8U, there seemed to be so much talk about illegal pitches by the newbie parents, coaches, and umpires. In 10U and now 12U travel ball, I never see an IP called and I never, ever hear anyone complain about it even though many pitchers could be called for some sort of pitching violation. Maybe its the calm before the storm...?

The only time I hear parents complain about IP is after the girl mows through the top of the line up in the 1st. That's part of the problem.
