I mean a sharp explosive break. I don't think I'd look silly because I played college baseball and have seen that. But the drop can be devastating at those high velocities. The riseball is the tough pitch and moves a lot as well. Men get the better spin and the ball moves so much more. Not trying to compare women to men but there is the difference. Don't let anyone tell you that the faster you throw, movement goes away.

No question ... men can throw faster. Have clocked male windmill pitches at 86mph. Despite that ... I have yet to document a riseball jumping upward as it approaches a bat. To me anyway, the profile of the riseball looked pretty much the same.

Did you ever play both at the same time, or even in a calendar year? I can't imagine timing issues going back and forth.

I played in an alumni game a few years back and the pitcher was a recent graduate who threw pretty well. When I got up to the plate I thought he threw slow and hit a double off him. Not that he was Roger Clemens but nonetheless fastpitch makes your bat quicker.

I was asking because I remember being told it only takes 1/100 of a second ( early or late ) for a batted ball to be foul down the lines. Not much room for "forgiveness" there.

Curious if you perceived it to be 'early break' or 'late break'.
Neither, having watched it several times. Don't recall my impression when I first saw the pitch. The video is poor and the angle is almost straight on the initial trajectory. It would be interesting to see that pitch from the batters box.
