If there are no A or B level teams in your area now, it will take you several years (if ever) to fill the void. TRUE A LEVEL players will travel any distance to play on great teams with great coaching. An hour each way is a normal commute to practice for my players at 14U. I am based in a very affluent community, but none of my current players live in the community - they all come from a much larger radius because our organization has an established track record and "way of doing things" that attracts talented, motivated players. If you are looking to attract players who want to play on "a highly competitive first year team" that is a better option because they don't have to drive very far, I promise you that you will get just that - players/parents who don't want to be inconvenienced with TRAVEL to play TRAVEL SOFTBALL. Unless you have an already established track record, you will not get those players willing to travel miles and miles to play on great teams.
