Yes well done, I do have to ask though, would you have sat another player for 3 games for doing the same thing? I can see maybe the remainder of the game, 3 games seems excessive.

No, I would not have sat them for three games, The rest of that game most definitely. I struggled with coaching, one of the most difficult things for me was feeling I had no right to ask a player to sit, if I was not 100 percent willing to have my DD sit.

We have had several opportunities to experience the Daddy/Daughter combo, and I am fortunate that my DD somewhat understood that she "should" work harder at practices.

There is a video by Sue Enquist - "33% Rule"
Both of my DD's have watched it hundreds of times, and on occasion I have to ask "which one are you right now"

An example of "reverse discrimination". If your going to coach your DD, you need the same rules for everyone.

Punishing your DD more doesn't make any more than you would another player doesn't make any more sense than punishing your DD less.

I completely agree, though even understanding that did not prevent me from being that way.

As an assistant coach in charge (cuz out head coach was at work) on a Saturday morning first game of pool play I had to pull HC daughter whom made three errors at second base and was pouting because she wasn't hitting either. She told me as I benched her, when my dad gets here I will go back in. Needless to say she didn't go back in the rest of the day!

When I was coaching DD#1 in 12U many years ago and was the HC with a new team in a new organization, with only three players that had ever played for me, I had to get onto one of the stars for not running off of the field for a water break during practice. I do not know what the star said or how she was acting but I did hear DD#1 say "He will only warn you once and then you will not like whatever is going to happen very much". It was a concept that I had drilled into her since she was able to understand what discipline really was and while not exactly what I normally said, it was close enough to make me laugh. That was the same approach that I always took with my players - you get one chance on something you can control and after that there will be consequences. DD#1 caught some during that season during relief of the #1 catcher, played some RF, and pinch hit some - never once did I hear her complain or act like she was not happy.

Unfortunately DD#2 did not respond to that same lesson and she responds better to my being a dad instead of a coach, which is one of the main reasons why I am no longer coaching on the field.
