I witnessed one young lady who grew up playing against my dd have her dad charge onto a field and call her every name in the book after my dd hit a home run off of her. It is one of the saddest things I've ever seen. To be sure, the college coaches in attendance took note and this young lady is not playing in college despite the fact that the dad bragged about all of the top D-Is that wanted his daughter.

Sad indeed. Talk about parents getting in the way.

Now if only I can be blessed with 12-14 parents just like you guys. None of my first 3 children played college ball, in fact none of them were even stars on their high school teams, but they played because they were having fun and didn't want to quit until all opportunity at succeeding at the next level was gone. I don't take credit for this, but I think it was just an outcome of the atmosphere (family and friends) that they grew up around. It infuriates me to no end when I see parents being so critical of their children who are playing a game. Hearing from each of you has given me hope that there are other great softball parents out there that want the best for the child, not for their child to be the best!
